How To Make Valentine’s Day Special – Our Top Tips

Valentine’s Day may be a bit of a cliché to some people, or the most important day of the year to others. Either way, if you’re spending it in Cornwall, why not take some time for you and your partner to celebrate it?

Don’t worry if the thought hadn’t even crossed your mind yet, though – we’ve got you covered. So sit back, relax and celebrate the best things about being together.

Here are a few ideas of special things to do for Valentine’s Day:

Take a romantic walk along the beach

You might need to wrap up a bit for this one (after all, it is still February), but a fresh winter walk could be the perfect excuse to spend some time together in the clean, sea air. Take a flask of hot tea and a little picnic, or, if you’re walking in Newquay, stop by the Lewinnick Lodge for one of our scrumptious winter warmers. Getting out in nature and experiencing the Cornish Coast could be something special to do with your loved one this Valentine’s day.

Try something new with your Valentine

Valentine’s is a great excuse to try something new with your partner (and could work well as a surprise gift). Newquay Activity Centre has everything you need if you want to get outside, from surfing and SUPing to coasteering and kayaking. If the brisk outdoors isn’t your partner’s thing, why not book in with a local cookery class or craft session with some of Cornwall’s most celebrated artisans?

Beach clean

Are you and your partner both interested in protecting the local environment? Give something back this Valentine’s Day and head down to your local beach spot to help tidy up the area. You’ll not only feel good about helping out but it’s safe to say you’ll deserve a well-earned drink to celebrate!

Go out for a Romantic Dinner

It’s a couple’s favourite – the chance to romance each other over a candlelit dinner. Check out the menu here at The Plume, we’re all about celebrating love by bringing the taste of Cornwall straight to your plate.

Celebrate your love for Cornwall with Cornish gifts

Cornwall arguably has some of the loveliest hand-crafted and gifts on offer – from atmospheric candles to luxury hampers full of locally-sourced products. We’re big fans of the Cornwall SoapBox, where you can find luxury, locally-crafted loveliness, including soaps, toiletries and room fragrances.
