Our 2026 seasonal bucket list for visiting Cornwall

Planning to visit Cornwall in 2026… but not sure when to come? Don’t worry! From wild coastlines and postcard villages to unbeatable food and year-round adventures, there’s no reason to ever get bored – and each season offers something different and unique.

Whether it’s your first visit or a long-overdue return, here’s our ultimate seasonal bucket list to help you make the most of 2026 in Cornwall.

Visiting Cornwall in Spring

Spring is Cornwall at its freshest, when the weather is still a little bit unpredictable, but you can still expect those blue-sky days in between. The county is coming back to life, and the holidays haven’t even begun (yet). Just think; coastal walks lined with wildflowers, fewer crowds, and crisp sea air.

If you’re planning your visit during spring, there’s no better time to enjoy the beautiful gardens of Cornwall as they burst into colour. Favourites include the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan, but head further south and you’ll find other stunning spots like Trebah or Tremenheere Sculpture Garden.

It’s also a great time to visit with your dog, before the summer beach bans take hold and the weather gets too hot to be out in the middle of the day. Hit the South West Coast Path for a proper adventure with your pup, complete with dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and sea views that stop you in your tracks.

This season also kicks off some of our favourite events of the year, including Porthleven Food Festival in April – a must-visit for serious foodies!

Visiting Cornwall in Summer

With summer comes long, lazy beach days, ice cream melting all over your hands, and seafood eaten with sandy feet.

Some of our favourite summer pastimes to add to your list include paddleboarding the Gannel Estuary at Newquay (just make sure to check the tide times!), ocean boat tours (our advice: book a reputable operator like Marine Discovery for responsible wildlife watching), and enjoying beautiful sunsets from a beach-side terrace (our sister venue, Lewinnick Lodge, has just the thing).

If you like an adrenaline-fuelled adventure, try your hand at coasteering or surfing – both experiences to get the blood-pumping and make the most of the salty waters at our feet.

For inland adventures, explore beautiful scenery like our nearby Laddock Woods, or head further afield to the wilds of Bodmin Moor; after dark, you’ll find a star-scape like no other.

Meanwhile, music-lovers can look forward to some of Cornwall’s biggest events of the year, with Boardmasters, Tunes in the Dunes, and Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival all calendar favourites.

Visiting Cornwall in Autumn

After the crowds of summer wane, autumn in Cornwall offers the perfect respite – and, often, with some hot days still to be had. At this time of year, the sea is at its warmest, while the evening skies still boast glorious sunsets.

For those who enjoy a slightly slower pace, with all of the outdoor fun, it’s a great time to visit and live like a local. More experienced surfers can expect to enjoy bigger waves, while wildlife lovers might just spot fluffy white seal pups as the breeding season begins (head here for top tips on watching respectfully).

Those interested in arts and culture should make the most of a packed schedule of events for the St Ives September Festival, too, with promises of a foodie-fix at Rock Oyster Festival.

Visiting Cornwall in Winter

Winter is unbelievably under-estimated in Cornwall – but it’s one of our favourite seasons! Through these months, it’s all about atmosphere. Our favourite activities? Storm watching, hunkering down in cosy pubs with roaring fires, and stomping the coast path (followed by hot chocolate… or something stronger).

Christmas lights in fishing villages and New Year swims add a festive edge, with plenty of local events to mark special days like the Winter Solstice (Montol in Penzance is an experience not to be missed).

It’s also a great time to visit some of Cornwall’s most popular attractions, with many sharing off-season offers thanks to thinner crowds.
