Celebrating Father’s Day in Cornwall

9th May 2019

Does your dad already have everything he needs, wants and actually never wanted in the first place?

We know that buying gifts for dads can be particularly stressful because, much of the time, they don’t want anything anyway.

It’s probably why they end up with more socks than a human will ever possibly need, and 10 bottles of whisky that they only drink on ‘special occasions’.

So, what can you do to make this Father’s Day extra special without pulling out the same old stops?

Fortunately, if you’re in Cornwall, it’s not actually that hard – and it isbasically summer (let’s just pray for good weather).

Here are some ideas to get you started…

Picnic on his favourite beach

Long gone (hopefully) are the cold, blustery winter days that were probably hanging around back on your mum’s special day. Instead of a brisk walk on the beach before running back to the car, take your time and set up a picnic in the afternoon sunshine at your dad’s favourite beach or country spot. Just don’t forget his favourite cakes!

Round of golf by the sea

Speaking of better weather, why not head out to your local course and book in for a round of golf? Cornwall has some stuff golf courses and the Newquay Golf Club is the perfect place to get started, with coastal views across the world-famous Fistral beach. Your dad won’t only appreciate the game, but also the dedicated time spent with his family in the great outdoors.

Take a boat trip around the Cornish coast

There’s no doubt that Cornwall boasts some of the most stunning coastline in the UK. Hire a boat or book a trip out with a local touring agent and explore all of the stunning views that the Duchy has to offer. Perfect for the adventure-seeking dad who loves being out on the water.

Lunch at his favourite pub or restaurant

People say that a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach – so, treat your dad to lunch or dinner at his favourite restaurant this Father’s Day. We’d highly recommend taking a stroll through the stunning Cornish countryside and booking a table at The Plume of Feathers for all the family – the perfect way to celebrate everything he does throughout the year.
