Keeping us all safe
With restrictions easing, we’re all looking forward to sunnier days but can we respectfully remind that infection rates are still rising across the country and therefore we’ve kept some of our practices in place for the safety of our guests, teams and communities.
Classic country food in a contemporary Cornish retreat
Feast on modern British cuisine in a historic coaching inn. The Plume of Feathers, Mitchell, combines the warmth and character of a traditional country pub with a modern, stylish ambience of a boutique B&B hotel.
Enjoy classic pub food that echoes the countryside on our doorstep. Head chef Andrew Dudley heads up the kitchen, making the most of seasonal ingredients from local farms and fishermen.
Soak up the cosy ambience under low oak-beams, lounge by the log fire, take a seat in the sunlit conservatory, take a pew by our dog-friendly bar, or sip local ales in palm-fringed gardens. Our tasty food is effortlessly matched with a wide selection of local and international beverages – from Cornish ales to fine world wines.
Equidistant from the surf beaches of Cornwall’s north coast and the sandy coves of the south, and easily accessible from all corners of Cornwall, The Plume of Feathers has established a reputation as one of the best restaurants near Truro.
Escape to a boutique Bed and Breakfast in Cornwall
Slink from the cosy pub into a stylish bedroom where you can slip between Egyptian cotton sheets, soak away the day in a free-standing bath and wake up to a hearty Cornish breakfast.
Looking for a place to stay in Cornwall? Step through the historic archway and stay over in one of our designer, dog-friendly rooms.
With a nod to contemporary Cotswold’s style, our suites are decked out with modish furnishings, doused in neutral hues of Farrow & Ball and finished with local artwork. As well as Emperor- or super-king beds, DAB radios, Bluetooth speakers and plasma-screen Smart TVs, you’ll find thoughtful extras such as handmade toiletries, coffee table books and homemade biscuits.
Surrounded by creature comforts, you’ll be reluctant to break out and explore the countryside in view. But muster the will power to ease out of the free-standing bath and put down your Orla Kiely cup, because you’re in the perfect location to explore the gems of Cornwall. Our dog-friendly accommodation is within easy reach of surf beaches, rolling moors and cosmopolitan Truro.
The Plume of Feathers prides itself on characteristically good food, good rooms and good service. Feedback is all important to the continual improvement making our good better and our better the best.

A country pub retreat in the heart of Cornwall
Eat, drink and sleep in a charming 16th century inn that stands equidistant between the north and south coasts of Cornwall. A historic location where John Wesley once preached and Walter Raleigh was once MP, The Plume of Feathers, Mitchell, is a long-standing family business that has been thoughtfully renovated into a country pub and B&B in Cornwall.
